Kidcasso Art Studio Spring, Summer I, and Summer II 2010 Class/Pricing List:

 Pricing includes all supplies and materials. 


Grades Pre-K and K

Art Box /$120.00/ Mrs. Small: Art Box is designed for these little artists to create original pieces of artwork inspired by famous artists, books, and the world that surrounds them.  Students will paint, draw, collage, and sculpt their way into the world's "Art Box"!

Monday: 1-2pm April 26th - May 24th or Tuesday: 10-11am April 27th - May 25th or Friday: 10-11am April 30th - May 28th

Move Your Body I /$80.00/ Ms. Seeberg: Students will explore the lively motion works of Keith Haring.  Students will explore the movement of the body through music and dance.  Each student will create original artwork portraying their individual experience with music and dance using watercolors and other mediums. 

Tuesday: 10-11am June 8th - June 22nd or Thursday: 10-11am June 10th - June 24th

Mouse Paint /$25.00/ Mrs. Drago: Create color from color, mix it, stir it, pain it.  Students will use their fingers along with a variety of brushes and painting tools to have fun with color!  Students will read the story, "Mouse Paint" and learn about color mixing while they create a colorful work of art.

Grades K, 1st, and 2nd

Seeing Red /$120.00/ Mrs. Small: Artist Robert Jay Wolff said that, "Red is the King of all colors".  It is the color of love, anger, and power, it can speak beauty or instill fear.  Young artists will look at a variety of artwork where red is the main color.  Students will create artwork inspired by the color red and design a large scale red saturated canvas painting in the style of Marc Rothko.

Saturday: 9-10am May 1st - May 29th

Krazy for Kandinsky /$120/ Mrs. Small: Young artists will paint and draw their way around and through expressionism.  Focusing on Russian artist, Wassily Kandinsky, students will observe Kandisnsky's work and put their own twist on his musically enhanced paintings and drawings.  Join us for this exciting class on Kandinsky, bright colors, unique patterns, and music.

Tuesday: 3:15-4:15pm April 27th - May 25th

Introduction to Sculpture and 3D Works of Art /$130 an extra $10 has been added for special supplies/ Mrs. Small: Do you have an artist who loves to create in 3D?  Then this is the class for you!  Students will create sculptures inspired by ancient Egypt, Africa, and Greece.  We will work in clay, wire, cardboard, and found objects.

Wednesday: 1:30-2:30pm or 3:30-4:30pm April 28th - May 26th

Drawing /$140.00/ Ms. Evans: This class is for the child who loves to draw and would like to learn more techniques as the master artists used.  The class will emphasize observational drawing mainly and employ a variety of different drawing materials, methods, and subjects.  We will also focus on value, composition, line, and spatial organization.

Sunday: 3:15-4:15pm May 2nd - June 13th

Jewelry Making /$180/ Ms. Evans: Would you like to know how to make your own jewelry?  If you are interested in working with beads, this class is for you!  We will create all kinds of jewelry from different materials and even make our own bead too.  Creating your own unique designs will also be a major part of the class.

Thursday: 3:15-4:15pm April 29th - June 17th ** 3RD GRADERS WELCOME!**

 Grades 3rd and 4th

Print This! /$80/ Mrs. Drago: Learn to make a print out of anything!  Students will learn many techniques artist use in the printmaking process.  Create printmaking plates out of a variety of materials and learn how to design multiple prints and original works of art.

Tuesday: 9am-12pm April 20th (students may bring a small snack with them)

Remembering Renaissance /$120/ Mrs. Small: Join us as we transport back to a time when Da Vinci and Botticelli were creating masterpieces that would last a lifetime!  Students will study a variety of Renaissance artists and create fresco style plaques, unique egg-paintings created from their own egg-based paints and silver leaf painting techniques used by the masters so many years ago.  This class is designed for the inventor in your family!

Tuesday: 4:30-5:30pm April 27th - May 25th

Dream Builders /$130 (an extra $10 has been added for special supplies)/ Mrs. Small: Frank Llyod Wright was one of America's leading architects and designers.  His clean lines and uncluttered designs captivated people and artists from all over the world.  This class has been created for the student who likes to build with his hands.  Students will study Wright and his natural style and create their own dream house.

Wednesday: 2:30-3:30pm April 28th - May 26th

Jolly For Dali /$120/ Mrs. Small: Spanish artist Salvador Dali Captivated us with his wacky and creative take on surrealism.  This 5-week class focuses on a young artists imagination.  Students will create mind melting landscapes in pastels, silly furniture sculptures, and dream inspired acrylic paintings.

Saturday: 10-11am May 1st - May 29th

The Space Age /$80/ Ms. Seeberg: How would you like to travel to space?  Students will explore and discover space travel and the galaxy we live in.  Students will be able to recognize shapes, space, and symmetry as well as design.  Students will create artwork that represents how they view the outside world.

Tuesday: 4:30-5:30pm June 8th - June 22nd or Wednesday: 2:15-3:15pm June 9th - June 23rd

 Painting/$140/ Ms. Evans: Perfect for children who want to explore with wt mediums in creative and fun ways.  Students will learn the basics in color theory and experiment with fun techniques for watercolor, acrylic, and tempera paints on canvas boards and other surfaces.  Perfect for any child who wants to learn more about painting.

Sunday: 4:45-5:45pm May 2nd - June 13th

Illustration/$120/ Ms. Evans: Be the illustrator and writer of your own picture book!  Students will learn about the illustrating and bookmaking process through planning with a storyboard, then creating illustrations using media of their choice.  Stories are completed after including text and making a cover.

Thursday: 4:45-5:45pm April 29th - June 17th

Collage and Decoupage/$120/ Ms. Evans: Create 2 and 3-dimensional pieces, using collage and decoupage techniques as the main focal point in this fun and innovative class.  While incorporating other mediums also, such as paint, students will have the opportunity to work with materials such as fabrics and paper on various surfaces such as canvases and boxes.

Wednesday: 5:00-6:00pm April 28th - May 26th **2ND GRADERS WELCOME!!**

Printmaking/$120/ Ms. Evans: Create many images and patterns in this fun and imaginative class.  Students will learn and use techniques such as Collagraph printing, stenciling, and stamping as well as explore the use of other media and techniques, such as collage and painting to create rich and interesting works. 

Wednesday: 6:15-7:15pm April 28th - May 26th **2ND and 5TH GRADERS WELCOME!!**

Grades 5th and 6th

Drawing with Scissors /$35/ Mrs. Drago: Learn about the art and life of the artist Henri Matisse.  How did he go from painter to collage artist?  Learn about his unique collage work, then create one of your own!

Tuesday: 1-2:30pm April 20th

Advertising and Visual Communications /$140 (an extra $20 was added for special supplies)/ Mrs. Small: Students interested in packaging, logo design, and modern advertise techniques will get first hand experience in the area of visual communications.  Students will express their ideas in the form of concept boards and sketches, resulting in the development of their own candy bar advertisement, a unique experience in shoe design/proto-typing, and lastly an overview on photography and imagining.

Tuesday: 5:45-6:45pm April 27th - May 25th

The Abstract World /$80/ Ms. Seeberg: Become an abstract expressionist artist!  Students will look into the abstract work of Franz Kline.  Students will focus on black and white artwork with some undercurrents of color.  They will use paint and other mediums to express what they see around them in an abstract form.

Monday: 3:15-4:15pm June 7th - June 21st

Through Hopper's Eyes /$120/ Mrs. Small: American Artist, Edward Hopper, captured human emotion and true beauty with his renditions on his hometown in New York State, the New England Coast-line, and the people who lived there.  Older students will study Hopper's style including paintings such as, Nighthawks, House by the Railroad, and Sunlight on Brownstones and create their own Hopper style paintings and drawings.

Saturday: 11-12pm May 1st - May 29th

 

 Grades 4th, 5th, and 6th

Clay Mask Making /$60/ Mrs. Drago: Students will work in 2D and 3D to form and create a mask out of clay.  Learn about the importance of masks in various cultures.  Through this learning process students will discover techniques such as, scoring, molding, and forming.

Monday: 4:30-5:30pm April 26th and May 3rd

Colors and Shapes Inspired by Mark Rothko /$80/ Ms. Seeberg: Students will look into the world of Mark Rothko and his multiform paintings, which he is most well known for.  Students will learn and discover the purpose of visual weight. Students will work with overlapping techniques with a direct connection to  color and shapes within a painting to create a number of moods. 

Friday: 4:30-5:30pm June 11th - June 25th

Grades 7th, 8th, 9th

Water Color Workshop /$130 (an extra $10 has been added for special supplies)/ Mrs. Small: This workshop is designed for older artists to obtain skills in watercolors.  Students will learn how to control and manage a full watercolor palette.  They will make their own hand-made paper, and create works of art on bark, plastic, and canvas.  During our 5-weeks together students will gather inspiration from a variety of painters and watercolor artists.

Saturday: 12-1pm May 1st - May 29th

 

Grades 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th

Intro To Animation /$150.00/ Ms. Zampitella and Ms. Piraino: Join Mass Art Film Maker Graduates in a week long exploration of the medium of animation.  Students will discover drawn and stop motion animation techniques such as: sand, clay, flip books, and even drawing with light!  Students will work independently and in groups.  Each student will end with a final cd of his or her work that can be included in a student portfolio.

Monday-Friday: 6-8pm February 15th - February 19th

Artists "Real World" Challenge /$150.00/ Ms. Zampitella and Ms. Piraino: Do you have what it takes to survive the "Real World" as a contemporary artist?  Students will propose, create, fabricate, design, conceptualize, and critique through a series of artistic challenges.  Challenges are designed to motivate and all students to become the artist.  Each student will end with a variety of final art pieces for their portfolio.

Monday-Friday: 6-8pm March 22nd - March 26th

SUMMER II

Week 1: July 5th, 6th, 7th / Caribbean Cruise /$200.00/ Ms. Seeberg: Come along on the Kidcasso Caribbean Cruise!  Students will create pieces of artwork based on their own imaginary cruise to the Caribbean.  Students will discover what the boat and beaches look like through interactive drawing exercises.  Artists will work on drawing, painting, and sculpting.

9am-12pm AGES: 4,5,6,7

3pm-6pm AGES: 8,9,10,11

Week 2: July 12th, 13th, 14th / Fashion 101 /$200.00/ Ms. Seeberg: Want to be a famous fashion designer?  If so, here is where you can start!  Young artists will use their drawing skills to create a design, use their painting skills to put their design in paint, and create their final piece using sculpture techniques.  Students will explore different fashion styles and designs, along with a number of famous fashion designers.

9am-12pm AGES: 6,7,8,9

3pm-6pm AGES: 10,11,12,13,14

Week 3: July 19th, 20th, 21st / The Mighty Jungle /$200.00/ Ms. Seeberg: Come join in some safari fun through the jungle!  Students will explore he pants and animals of the jungle using their prior knowledge and books about the jungle.  Students will create original artwork based off what they would see and experience in the jungle.

9am-12pm AGES: 4,5,6,7

3pm-6pm AGES: 8,9,10,11

Week 4: July 26th, 27th, 28th / Splatter Art with Jackson Pollock /$200.00/ Ms. Seeberg: Come learn about the life and art of Jackson Pollock, the famous splatter painter.  Students will discover the world of splatter painting and how to use other materials to create canvas masterpieces.
